Sipsy Teas – FAQs
What kinds of teas does Sipsy sell?
We sell herbal teas, called tisanes, along with your traditional black, green, red, or white teas we blend. Occasionally we will have a breakfast or Earl Grey tea, similar to what you would find in stores (but trust us, you don’t want the ones in the stores).
Why should I drink herbal teas?
Uhh, because they’re DOPE!
Herbal teas are designed to provide your body with the nutrients and minerals it needs to perform at its best. Our teas feature tussives, bitters, and other constituents important for cellular regeneration, digestive health, or even cleansing the blood. Many of us don’t get these minerals because we don’t always eat the best foods possible. Sipsy Tea saves the day by providing these minerals with a tasty flavor profile.
Why should I drink loose leaf teas?
Sipsy teas consist of whole or broken tea leaves and you can taste the difference. When a tea leaf is left whole, it unfolds and changes color in water when brewed. Store-bought tea bags usually consist of dust or grit because the tea leaves are ground up to fit into the bag. In tea bags with artificial flavors and colorings, the teas appear to unfold and change color—but they don’t deliver the same quality or flavor. Loose leaf teas are actually inexpensive compared to bagged options. You can brew more than one cup of tea from loose leaves, while a tea bag is typically good for only one cup of great tea. With Sipsy loose leaf teas, you get the best quality and taste while supporting your health.

How many cups of tea do I get out of 1 oz of Sipsy tea?
Use 1 teaspoon of Sipsy Tea for every 8 oz of water. A 1 oz container typically contains 6–10 teaspoons of tea, giving you about 6–10 cups on the first steep. You can brew loose leaf teas twice, so a 1 oz container can yield up to 20 cups depending on your brewing strength.
Based on this same ratio, a 2 oz container can give you as many as 25 cups of tea. Please do not throw your teas away after one steeping!
How long do I steep my teas?
- Green tea: 1–3 minutes at 175–185°F (80–85°C). Green tea is delicate; this range brings out flavor without bitterness.
- White tea: 2–5 minutes at 175–185°F (80–85°C). Also delicate; shorter times give a lighter flavor.
- Black tea: 3–5 minutes at 200–212°F (93–100°C). Bold and robust!
- Red tea (Rooibos): 5–7 minutes at boiling (212°F / 100°C). If it’s a black-style red tea, 3–5 min is okay.
- Herbal teas: 5–10 minutes at boiling (212°F / 100°C). Your original range was perfect!
Experiment with steep times to figure out which one tastes best for you.
Where do you all source your teas?
Everywhere! We source from regions known for the highest-quality teas, and all our teas are blended by hand using Sipsy’s own recipes/mashups. They’re not like us!!
Many of our teas are Fair Trade, meaning growers receive equitable wages. Every product lists its country of origin and includes any FDA-required information.
What should I do if I have an allergy?
There’s no herbalist currently for Sipsy teas, so you should not place your order before talking to us! Send us an email and we can try to work around your allergies. We’re as accommodating as possible.
Sample = Teaser size
A tease (0.5 oz) should produce anywhere from 3–5 teaspoons of tea, giving 3–5 servings depending on how strong you like your brew.
